- Marla in her elements at Texas A&M Killeen, Texas, where she showed me her soft and gentle style of becoming a teacher. She had some great ideas she wanted to do and I was so excited the did because it helped me see what style of images she really wanted to capture.
- Caleb in Belton, Texas, gave me his best impressions of his; serious side, in his tux ready for the prom, lovable side allowing mom and dad to be in a few of the images, and adventurous side, bringing his best impression of his favorite comic movies to life and showing us all how to have just a bit more fun everyday!
- And Nathaniel, Belton High School graduate as well, who had just the most amazing smile and was such an individual himself, refused to even bring his cap or tassel with his red graduate attire to the shoot, because he just didn't like the way it sat on his head. He had a true kindness to him and I look forward to where his journey takes him.
I have had so many parents come up to me worried about their children's Senior High School portrait sessions. I completely understand their feelings, after all when mom takes their picture, you get the "another picture mom" look, or the tung out, the roll of the eyes or no smile, cool look. Trust me, I was that teen who always gave my parents one of those looks whenever they pulled out the camera, and still sometimes do!! However, becoming a professional photographer I have learned that all I have to do is allow these individuals to be who they truly are and give them the opportunity to show me their silly side, or their creative side or whatever side they want to give me. After all this is their photo session, not mine and I want them to be completely satisfied with the outcome of these images. They are the ones who will want to share these with their classmates, not just their family members. So by giving them the reigns and helping them guide me through their session, I have found these young adults blossom in front of my camera and is the key to "capturing their cherished moments".
After the session, parents have come to me in joyful tears because of how I "captured" their son/daughter's true personality which they never thought would be possible". These sessions are some of my favorites because I really get to spend a mount of time in their lives and once again get to feel what it is like to be young and at the beginning of this amazing new journey.
I am so thankful to get to know so much about these young minds and I look forward to see where their future will bring them . It's a joy and an honor to photography your children of all ages.
